    • Sprint tells 1,000 constant complaine...
Comments
Sprint's competitors and detractors are trying to spin this as a mistake. In reality, it's a common sense decision. Anybody who works in customer service will tell you there are some people who CANNOT be satisfied. In fact, they're not really calling because they want help, they often call because they crave interaction with somebody -- anybody. If you fix all their problems, they'll invent new ones. I hope AT&T and Verizon enjoy handling the folks who call 300 times a month.

Their competitors need to pay attention! This is a true story! I worked for one of their competitors and they allowed a specific customer to nearly drive me insane. He would call sometimes dozens of times a day and almost never did he have a legitimate issue. When I raised the question about his constant calling in a staff meeting - especially since the time we were spending on him was depriving other customers the attention they deserved - one of the other employees actually told the customer that I'd brought him up (some employees took his calls to avoid taking others, so he actually had supporters in the center)and that management indicated they might start to limit his calls. The customer was given my name, the times I worked, what I looked like, where I sat, and from that point forward he tormented me daily, terrified me, would call and ask dozens of personal questions of others on staff about me. When I complained to managment they let the employee go who told him that I'd mentioned him (but management assured me and others it was because this was his final infraction, not because of what he did to me), but management totally disregarded my concern about this customer's threatening behavior - saying they felt he was harmless, just a lonely man who wanted to talk to people so he was calling into the center, he was, afterall, a valued customer - and they began to cuddle him with special treatment and attention. I wound up a nervous wreck and, ultimately, although finacially I couldn't afford to, I quit. I am still haunted, nearly a year later, every day by that torment, and, as we have seen how truly dangerous people can be the company put me in dire jeapordy by not taking an aggressive stand with that customer.

Kudo's to Sprint for getting rid of the malcontents. These folks won't be happy in Heaven, so why deal with the frustration.

Taking care of the folks with "real" problems is a better goal.

To eliminate 95% of their problems, every company needs to fire 5% of their customer base every year. Customers with legitimate problems that cannot be fixed will leave on their own.

Great move by Sprint. There are some real wackjobs out there and they should be taught some lessons.

Lewis. It must really suck to be you.

I've had 6 cell phones in my family since the beginning and our carrier has provided us with good service. Not great but good. We travel all over the USA and can stay connected. I know my spouse and daughter are safer than my mom and sister were. We pay a fair price for this service.

A rip off. I think not. If you're expecting perfection, there's no such animal.

I'm inclined to agree with the writer taking exception with Lewis. Cell phones are not going to be a religious experience. We're talking sound or radio waves being bounced between cell phone towers, glass, concrete walls and steel all over the country. There mere fact if works is amazing to me.

My suggestion Lewis if you don't like the cell phone experience, give it up. No one has put a gun to your head forcing you to use this dastardly device and using these rip off companies.

Obviously, Sprint doesn't care about their Customers, or Employee's! Why should they care?
They lose afew Employee's and make more money, use all the money for Advertisment and the new Sprint Center if it pulls in enough money for what a 25 year contract???????? We'll see how long that last downtown, and who can afford to go to the games? Sprint S-U-C-S !!!!!

Some people are never happy and you will never be able to please them. I think it was wise of Sprint to be up front and cut these jerks off. This happens in all types of companies that deal with the public. Maybe the can try and sue for $54 million like our "pantless" friend did. LOL
