Why is it that when a young person or someone with an ethnic-sounding last name dies in an accident, the comments include assumptions about drugs, alcohol, speeding, etc., but when it's a middle-aged white lady from podunk, a deer is blamed?

Ms. Caviness was a school librarian at the elementary school two of my children attend. They both really enjoyed their time with her and will miss her a great deal. Our family sends prayers and condolences to her family and loved ones.

Since when is Caviness "ethnic sounding"? You need to get out more.

Why do people try to turn tragic events into a stereotypical thing? How about respecting the family, no matter WHO the victim?

Donna was a good woman, from a good family and my prayers are with them to get through this difficult time. God bless!

I didn't know deers only came out at certain times. Maybe there was a problem with the car, it could have been anything.

Well, "Disgusted with Stereotypes" it's a fact that young people ARE more likely to engage in risky behaviors than older people. That includes (but is not limited to) drinking and driving, drug use, speeding, reckless driving, and driving while talking on cell phones. Not to mention all the risky behaviors that don't occur behind the wheel.
I'm under the age of 30, by the way, before you label me as one of the youth-haters.

There is no such thing as "deers". One is a deer, a herd is deer.

Mrs. Caviness was an amazing woman who drove from Baldwin City to Shawnee M-F to work as a school librarian at the elementary school my 3 children attend. My kids loved her and will miss her. My family's thought and prayers go out to the Caviness family.
